This dog is and will always be one of my favorite dogs in the whole world.

My dad’s dog, Jake, has been a constant comfort for me.

Unfortunately, I haven’t gotten to see him too much in the past couple years because of my own selfish reasons for not going to my dad’s house.

Now I wish I had spent more time there.

I had this overwhelming feeling Thursday night to go to my dad’s house to see Jake without even knowing how bad his condition was. Thank God I did, but I had no idea that that would be the last time I’d see him. He just gave me this look that said, “I’m sorry, Lauren, but I’m done.”

You won’t be in pain much longer, buddy.

I love you so much and I’m going to miss you like you won’t even believe.

Rant.

I am so frustrated with the scheduling at my work.

I have barely been scheduled for 3 weeks now.I finally brought it up to one of my managers and they said that no one changed my availability. Ok. Fine.

Just a few minutes ago my manager texts me asking me to pick up a shift tonight.

I have plans for tonight.

I ask what time though and he says until 8:30.

I said that I had plans for around 7 already. Actually my plans are at 5. I was willing to go until 7.

Then he asks if I can do 3 to 6:30. No, because I have to pick up my sister from school. I then tell him that I’ll be picking up my paycheck and schedule for next week at around 4:30 today.

I tell my mom and she says that it might have been a mistake not to take the shift.

You know what, no.

I have covered so many peoples’ shifts. And for my manager to text me 2 hours before someone’s shift to cover is a little ridiculous. I can’t just drop everything that short notice.

Whenever I request days off, far in advance, I somehow always get scheduled on those days… It is then my responsibility to find someone to cover for me, and I do.

So when I get asked 2 hours before because somehow didn’t take care of it, no. No, I will not drop everything.

If I didn’t have plans for tonight then this wouldn’t be an issue.

But I won’t just drop everything that I have planned because other people drop the ball on their responsibilities.
